Presenting the "Finger Flute," a meticulously handcrafted terra cotta clay whistle. Each piece is carefully sculpted, tuned, and burnished before undergoing a 10-hour firing process.

This unique instrument allows you to produce a variety of bird sounds, chirps, and calls through a combination of the finger hole and the hole at the flute's end. For easy access and convenience, it comes with a hand-twisted cord lanyard that allows you to wear it around your neck. It serves as an excellent whistle to enhance your flute songs with natural bird sounds.

The artisan behind this exquisite instrument is Nash Tavewa, a member of the Bene Xidza (people of the clouds), more commonly known as "Zapotec." He hails from a lineage of master ceramic artists in traditional Zapotec pottery.

Nash honed his skills under the expert guidance of Maestro Guillermo Martinez, where he learned the art of Native American love flute and drum making. After many years of refining his craft with both clay and wood, Nash has earned global recognition as an instrument maker.

His instruments reflect his grounding in Zapotec traditional knowledge, reinterpreting the traditional musical language and dance. His artistry preserves his ancestors' spiritual beliefs in nature as a sacred and divine living being.

Nash holds his heritage in high regard, rich with traditions, ceremonies, dances, and music. He is dedicated to preserving and sharing this ancient knowledge through his craft. With each Finger Flute, you receive not just an instrument, but a piece of history and culture.

Very authentic

As an owner of a Nash Tavewa flute, it still amazes me how rich these clay whistles sound. With vibrato and even half holing there is richness to explore. Very fun to play, it stands out in any sound journey or ceremony.
